He is and shall be!

The Byzantine Catholic Community of Austin is the organized worshiping community of the Byzantine Catholic Archeparchy of Pittsburgh for the Austin, Texas, metro area. We have been a spiritual home for Byzantine Catholics in Central Texas since 2001.

We meet for the reader services of Typika every Sunday, and of Vespers (or a Moleben or Typika) for all major feast days. We meet at Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church, 1610 E 11th St, Austin, TX 78702.

We celebrate the Divine Liturgy whenever a Byzantine Catholic priest is able to visit Austin and preside for our community. These dates will be listed on the calendar above when known. Confessions are available before/after the Divine Liturgy on the days when a priest is in town. On certain days, a deacon is able to bring the presanctified Eucharist for our community; those dates will be listed as Typika With Holy Communion. Both the Divine Liturgy and Typika With Holy Communion satisfy the obligation to attend a Sunday Mass for Roman Catholics who join us for worship.

Pastoral oversight for the community is provided by Very Rev. Fr. Elias L. Rafaj, SEOL, of St. Basil the Great Byzantine Catholic Church in Irving, Texas.
